Biomedical Ceramics
Biomedical Ceramics are mainly used in the repair and replacement work of human bones, muscles and the cardiovascular system. The applications are artificial bones, joints, and teeth. The compatibility is much higher than their metal counterparts. Another series of products are the biodegradable calcium phosphate ceramics, which can be degraded into absorbable ion compositions inside the human body after a designated period of time. The application in bone screws and plates are preferred to avoid second surgery that patients would suffer otherwise. |
